(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

I'm sure that this is a sight being seen all over the country after all that rain we had earlier in the year. However, despite the excess of frothy blossom, the bees obligingly buzzing around the garden at the right time, underplanting the trees with nectar rich flowers, the few days of warm sunshine followed helpfully by a few days of rain - I still won't believe the trees will fruit until I see the evidence with my own eyes.  Looks like this could be it -  baby Braeburns! Thrilled, I am.

  1. Oh lucky you, I really don't think I have any apples this year, I have spotted a couple of pears though.

    1. We're the opposite then, Joanne! Sadly, it seems I won't be getting pears - they're all gone with the wind!

  2. I won't believe it either ''til the fruit is in the basket!

    1. That's very wise, Sue. I now recall having problems with my cherries two years ago - loads of the fruit went a mottled brown colour and then dropped off the branch! (And I never did work out what the problem was.) Still, you can't blame me for being optimistic! :)

  3. That's a very nice promise of things to come Caro. Cross fingers that you will definitely get your Braeburns later :)

    1. Thanks, guys! Fingers crossed indeed - even when the fruit ripens (see how I was positive about it there?) I'll have to be quick to get to the fruit before the children here do! The apples were very popular last year, even the builders confessed to helping themselves! Cheeky!

  4. The blossom has been absolutely incredible here. I'm hoping for a bumper crop from ours. We need to somehow keep the wasps off our apples, as they had the lot last year! :)

    1. Oh, wasps! What a nuisance! Somehow I've not been bothered by wasps before now, luckily. It will be hard to keep them away without hurting them (I'm sure they'd get in under mesh netting) - even if they're a nuisance, they're still part of the ecological balance of a garden! Wishing you better luck this year, so frustrating not to have the prize after a long wait!

    1. The weather is kindly giving the trees a good soaking for me today! That's the one area where I let my trees down as I don't have a tap in the garden. I do hope that this good weather continues as I'm really looking forward to tasting home-grown in the autumn!
